Every once in a while, I love to break out a classic. And let me tell you, this is a classic. Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman in a heartbreaking tale of a woman trying to win her husband back with a overwhelming wall between them.
The focus of the film is the troubled marriage between Maggie "The Cat" and her gorgeous husband, Brick. Big Daddy, played by Burl Ives, is fighting against the truth that he is dying.
The sharks are circling as they all know that Big Daddy's illness isn't going away. Since Big Daddy is one of the richest land owners in Louisiana, his money is the aim of Brother Man and Sister Woman.
Best quotes include:
"Brick Pollitt: What is the victory of a cat on a hot tin roof?
Margaret "Maggie" Pollitt: Just staying on it I guess, long as she can."
"Margaret "Maggie" Pollitt: You know what I feel like? I feel all the time like a cat on a hot tin roof."
"Brick Pollitt: A family crisis brings out the best and the worst in every member of the family."
"Harvey 'Big Daddy' Pollitt: What's that smell in this room? Didn't you notice it, Brick? Didn't you notice a powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity in this room?"
